Solar energy is a major renewable energy source with the potential to meet many of the challenges facing the world. Solar is a safe alternative which can replace current fossil fuels like coal and gas for generation of electricity that produce air, water, and land pollution. Pristine forests are destroyed for mining raw materials like fossil or nuclear fuels. Trees constantly remove and use carbon dioxide from the air to make their food, and this carbon is then stored in them. When forests are cut for mining raw materials for conventional energy, this major carbon sink disappears and also increases climate change. Moreover the animal species are also disappearing due to deforestation. Switching to solar power is important to keep these habitats intact for the animals who live there as well as continue to keep the air clean.

  SOLAR POWER PLANTS:-solar power plant is based on the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaic (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). A solar power plant is used in an active manner when the energy from the sun is converted directly into a useable form which can be used for powering all kinds of appliances that are present in the house on a normal basis. Passive use of solar energy takes place when houses and buildings have been created in such a manner that they get the maximum exposure to the rays of the sun. SOLAR PV POWER PLANTS:- Generally we us Solar Photo-voltaic Power Plants for Power Generation. The technical diagram is shown below: There are two types of Solar Photo-voltaic Power Plants:-
  1. Off-grid Solar PV Power Plant
  2. On-grid Solar PV Power Plant
  3. Hybrid Solar PV Power Plant
Two different models are available here in all the three types of Solar PV Power Plants. They are:- (i)RESCO Model:- The RESCO model is a zero-investment model in which the consumer pays only for the electricity generated, while the solar plant is owned by the RESCO developer. People can utilize the electricity that is generated without worrying about any of the associated operations and maintenance issues. People only have to pay a pre-decided monthly tariff which is lower than prevailing grid electricity tariff. (ii)CAPEX Model:- Capital expenditures, commonly known as CAPEX, are funds used by a company to acquire, upgrade, and maintain physical assets such as property, buildings, an industrial plant, technology, or equipment. CAPEX is often used to undertake new projects or investments by the firm. Making capital expenditures on fixed assets can include everything from repairing a roof to building, to purchasing a piece of equipment, to building a brand new factory. This type of financial outlay is also made by companies to maintain or increase the scope of their operations.  
    1. Off-grid Solar PV Power Plant:-
Off-the-grid or Off-grid also known as a stand-alone power system (SAPS) is a characteristic of buildings and a lifestyle designed in an independent manner without reliance on one or more public utilities. The term “off-the-grid” traditionally refers to not being connected to the electrical grid, but can also include other utilities like water, gas, and sewer systems, and can scale from residential homes to small communities. Off-the-grid living allows for buildings and people to be self-sufficient, which is advantageous in isolated locations where normal utilities cannot reach and is attractive to those who want to reduce environmental impact and cost of living.

  1. On-grid Solar PV Power Plant:- On-grid solar power system also known as a grid-tie or grid-feed solar system is a solar power generation system where it is connected to the utility grid. The electricity produced by the system is routed to the grid from where it is used to run the various appliances. The installation of the same is also fuss free and easy to maintain.

  1. Hybrid Solar PV Power Plant:-
Hybrid Solar power system is also known as solar plus battery storage with grid-connection. Though Solar PV generates cheaper intermittent power during the day light time, it needs the support of sustainable power generation sources to provide round the clock power. So at night time/Rainy season/Winter season when the solar intensity is less the solar system is connected with grid which supplies power to houses. As a result the houses receive uninterrupted power supply.
